Mar 2024: As a co-chair, Lei organized a US Climate Variability and Predictability Program (US CLIVAR) workshop titled "Blocking and Extreme Weather in a Changing Climate" (link) at Boulder CO, USA in March 18-21, 2024. The workshop summarized the state of the knowledge and gaps in understanding and put forward recommendations for future diagnostic/modeling activities, necessary observations, theoretical frameworks, and other ways forward for the scientific community. Lei is also scoping a new Blocking - Extreme - Model Intercomparison Project (BEMIP) through this US CLIVAR workshop.
